Along this route cyclists will ride past the world’s largest open faced granite quarry and the gravesite of Eng and Chang Bunker, siamese twins that lived in the Mount Airy area during the 19th century. As you journey near the southern end of the county near Shoals and the Yadkin River, you will discover the Horne Creek Living Historical Farm that has been designated a 20th Century Living Historical Farm. This farm focuses on informing and educating citizens on the lifestyles of those who lived on a rural piedmont farm in the early 20th century. Horne Creek is also the home to the Southern Heritage Apple Orchard, the only one of its kind in the United States.
